All textbooks must be brought in the last week of school. If you are returning to your home school all coursework must be completed. You will not be receiving any work to finish over the summer break. Returning students will be receiving summer work. One week’s assignment must be finished to receive attendance credit the first week of school. School will resume on August 14th.
Yearbook
The Ortega 2013 yearbook will be on sale until the end of April. Order your copy for only $20! All yearbooks must be paid for and ordered, so don’t miss out. See the yearbook table at lunch or Ruby in the office to order.
Graduating Seniors!
Please stay out at break for a few minutes on FRIDAY for a Senior Graduate Group photo. You will need to gather on the stage area when the bell rings. An announcement will be made to remind you that day.
VE
Virtual Enterprise won 7th for Impact Marketing, 6th for commercial, and 3rd for salesmanship out of 59 companies at the San Diego trade fair. They have won nine in the last two trade fairs…and they are paying their bills with all the virtual money they’ve been making. Congrats to VE!
Community Service
Help local families and need and earn community service. This month is the HOPE canned food drive. For every 10 cans of food you bring in to your 1st period teacher earn 1 hour of community service. Please make sure cans are labeled, not expired or dented. Dry food items are also accepted. Remember we can make a difference in the lives of families here in Lake Elsinore. Also, as an incentive the top three classes in collecting cans will receive ice cream.

Plan to attend Thursday and Friday. The CST test will be administered in the Ortega High School multipurpose room. Students must arrive promptly. Testing instructions will be given at the beginning of each session. Please come well rested and prepared to do your very best. This test is mandatory; students who are absent will risk being dropped from the program.

WASC
OHS WASC visit is tomorrow. Teachers have told you how important this visit is to our school and your diploma, please make sure you have reviewed your ESLRS and know where your standards are in your classrooms. The WASC team will visit classrooms tomorrow and may randomly ask students questions.

Prom
Tickets are on sale in the student store before school and in the office with Ruby before school, during break and after school. Deadline to purchase tickets is April 4, the week we come back from spring break, which gives you only 10 school days to purchase your tickets. Guest passes must be approved before you purchase your guest ticket.
Senior Portraits
Seniors, Cherished Memories will be here Tues and Wed, April 2nd and April 3rd for Senior Portraits. They offer special discounted package prices for Ortega students. This is the last chance this year. See Ruby in the Front Office to reserve your appointment. A $10 sitting fee is required to reserve you appointment time. Cap and gowns are provided for photo shoot.
OHS Yearbooks
Yearbooks are lifetime memoirs of your time in High School. Be sure to get your copy. Cost is $20. You must preorder your yearbook with Ruby in the front office. They will be delivered sometime in May.
Blood Drive
Our blood drive has changed to April 24. Sign-ups will occur when we return from spring break.

Credits: 5 credits per quarter (9 weeks)
Time: 1 hour per week on Mondays
Students may come from 1:30 pm to 5:00 pm
Where: Rm 505
Qualifications: Any student who works at a job with a physical paycheck and any student with a work permit. Any student who has a work permit and works more than 20 hours a week MUST attend the work experience class or their work permit will be REVOKED.
